The Hill Bow
This was one of the first items sold from the collection. Good antique bows are more in demand than violins just because once a bow warps it is unrepairable. It is lost forever. So it is not so much demand but lack of supply that makes a good antique bow valuable.
Hill bows are in demand because of their history. They are well documented on each bow with little clues on the shaft, under the frog, on the frog and under the tip that identify who exactly made each part. There are books about who did what and when in the employ of the W.E. Hill and sons company. People also like them because of their light weight and good balance.
