Strad copy 17--
Inside of this violin is a label that states Antonius Stradivarius Cremonenfis Faciebat Anno 17. Usually someone has penned in a year after the 17 but not in this violin. There is the usual trademark beside the printing.
This violin like so many of the others was made at the turn of the Century. It is made of very nice wood and has the original varnish on it. The two piece back has a nice subtle maple grain and the top is a very nice piece of spruce. The perfluing is straight and steady with very pointed bee stings in the corners. It has very little damage for being over 100 years old. There are no cracks and there is no evidence of any rough use.
New parts include the pegs, bridge, sound post, tailpiece and tail hanger. It was cleaned and polished. It has the strings that came with it so they will not have to be broken in.
This is a very nice Student violin. I do not have a recollection of the sound to share with you now but will take care of that ASAP. For a collector this is one that you could dress up with some upscale hardware and it will show very nicely.
